I have been studying Hospitality & Tourism Management at Dania - Danish Academy of Business and Technology - for 2 years and I have graduated this summer 2008. When I started 2 years ago, I was sceptical about leaving my country and going to Denmark to study but after my experience here, I can honestly recommend anyone to start studying at the academy in Randers because it will be a great experience for them in every way. I have enjoyed these past 2 years tremendously and I have learned so much in every aspect. The academy helps you to develop excellent professional skills as well as social skills and prepares you successfully for your future career. I am going to continue my studies in Southampton in England but I already know that I will miss the academy and Denmark.

Friendly, informal and helpful
Studying in Viborg has surprised me in that way that it is interesting and very practical. The process of studying is different from what I was used to, more relaxed and informal. It doesn’t matter whether it is a teacher or someone from the IT department or anyone else - the relationship with any of the staff in school is friendly, informal and helpful. I like Viborg very much. It is a peaceful city and with a lot of people who are bicycling or jogging. I am a person who is fond of nature. My favorite part of Viborg is when going to school, where the road goes through two amazing lakes with a view that takes my breath away. I am happy for the opportunity to study here in Viborg and to be able to explore so many cultures - Danish, Lithuanian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, etc.

I have had one of the best times ever since I applied to become a student at the DBAM. The whole experience has just been awesome. From the learning styles, which are completely different from Brazilian procedures, to the school environment, the whole experience has been fantastic. Studying abroad can be quite challenging in the beginning and student’s experience can highly differentiate from one another. Even though that the adaption to a new culture can be daring, the academy in Randers has tried to organize events to bring the students together and to stimulate their imagination. Though I didn’t opt for living in Randers (I live in Århus, 40 km away), I could manage to go back and forwards during the full two school years and be part of all social events provided by the school and classmates. Now that I’m pretty much finished with school and have decided to take the 1 year top up in England (another good option provided by the school), I feel that I am on the right track to follow up the with the management field more securely. I am sure I made a good decision by taking this course and that it will open up many opportunities in my future profession.

The first thing that impressed me in the education was that the students are involved in the whole process. The program is designed to get students to think. The academy in Viborg has a good technical base, which provides you with internet connection all the time. The teachers give you everything that you need in the internal information system (Lectio), but you are allowed to search for additional information by yourself. The town is very calm and clean and you can see smiling people everywhere, who are ready to help you if you need it.
